Head of Department (HOD) - Logistics and Supply Chain Management
is a senior academic and administrative role responsible for leading the department's academic programs, faculty, research initiatives, and industry collaborations. The HOD ensures that the department delivers high-quality education, remains industry-relevant, and contributes to the institution's academic goals through innovative teaching, curriculum development, and research.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership
Oversee the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in logistics, supply chain management, and related fields.
Lead curriculum review processes to ensure alignment with industry trends and academic standards.
Foster academic excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
Faculty Management
Lead, mentor, and manage academic staff within the department.
Coordinate faculty recruitment, workload allocation, performance appraisals, and professional development.
Encourage a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Research & Development
Promote and support faculty and student research in logistics and supply chain domains.
Encourage participation in national and international conferences, journals, and industry forums.
Seek funding and partnerships for research initiatives and consultancy projects.
Industry & Institutional Collaboration
Build and maintain strong partnerships with logistics companies, supply chain firms, and industry bodies.
Facilitate internships, industrial visits, guest lectures, and placement opportunities for students.
Represent the department in academic and industry networks to enhance visibility and credibility.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Ensure departmental compliance with institutional policies, academic regulations, and accreditation standards.
Maintain academic records, prepare reports, and support audits and inspections by academic bodies or regulators.
Student Engagement
Support student academic advising, career development, and extracurricular engagement.
Handle student grievances related to the department and promote a positive learning environment.
Qualifications:
Masters. in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a closely related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of academic experience (e.g., Associate Professor, Program Chair, or HOD).
Strong record of teaching, research publications, and curriculum development.
Familiarity with academic accreditation processes is an advantage.
