The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the movement of cargo across the supply chain. This role ensures timely execution of transportation, yard operations, and delivery schedules while optimizing resources, controlling costs, and maintaining smooth coordination between drivers, vendors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Coordination
Plan and coordinate inbound and outbound cargo movement from factory to ICD, port, warehouse, or consignee.
Allocate vehicles and equipment based on shipment priority and operational requirements.
Coordinate with drivers, transporters, yard supervisors, and warehouse teams for daily execution.
Track shipments and ensure adherence to committed ETAs and delivery timelines.
Handle operational issues such as delays, breakdowns, route changes, and rescheduling.
Documentation & Reporting
Ensure availability of operational documents such as gate passes, E-way bills, delivery challans, and movement slips.
Maintain daily movement registers, trip sheets, and PODs.
Prepare and submit daily MIS, vehicle utilization, and performance reports.
Cost & Efficiency Control
Monitor fuel consumption, trip costs, detention, and demurrage.
Coordinate to reduce turnaround time at yards, ICDs, and ports.
Support billing teams by sharing trip details, delivery confirmations, and cost-related data.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with transport regulations, safety standards, and company SOPs.
Monitor driver discipline, documentation validity, and safe driving practices.
Report and escalate non-compliance or safety incidents.
Communication & Coordination
Act as a single point of contact between operations, transporters, and customers for shipment updates.
Provide proactive status updates to internal teams and clients.
Coordinate closely with EXIM, CHA, and documentation teams for seamless cargo movement.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong coordination and multitasking abilities
Problem-solving and quick decision-making skills
Knowledge of transport operations, ICD/port procedures
Working knowledge of E-way bills, vehicle documentation
Good communication skills (Hindi & English preferred)
Basic computer skills (MS Excel, email, MIS systems)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred)
2-5 years of experience in logistics, transport coordination, or operations
Experience in ICD / port / container logistics will be an advantage
