The Freight Broker is responsible for managing the transportation of goods by linking shippers with dependable carriers. This role involves coordinating logistics operations, building strong relationships, negotiating competitive rates, and ensuring timely and efficient delivery of shipments. Key Responsibilities
Relationship Building:
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with shippers and carriers to understand their transportation needs.
Freight Coordination:
Identify and assign appropriate carriers to freight loads based on capacity, routes, availability, and cost considerations.
Rate Negotiation:
Negotiate pricing and terms with carriers to achieve cost-effective and profitable transportation solutions.
Documentation Management:
Prepare, review, and manage shipping-related documents, including contracts and bills of lading.
Shipment Tracking:
Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery and proactively address delays or issues.
Client & Carrier Support:
Communicate effectively with customers and carriers, respond to inquiries, and resolve disputes in a professional manner.
Market Awareness:
Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and transportation regulations.
Data & System Management:
Maintain accurate records and update freight brokerage systems and databases consistently.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred
Practical experience with OTR and drayage operations
Minimum of 6 months of experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or a related field
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated, target-driven, and able to work independently
Ability to perform well in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
