Job Description

A thriving children's library in Jayanagar requires one candidate for a part-time job as a library assistant. The library is located in Jayanagar 5th Block, Bangalore.

This is a part-time position with the possibility of full-time work based on the library's growth.

Skills Required:

Computer skills in Excel, Word, Canva with an acceptable typing speed is required. Good communication. Must demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills as a large part of your job will involve interacting with the local community including parents, students, and young children. Can-do attitude with initiative and drive. Ability to work independently. Time management. Should be an avid reader with a love for books. Fluent knowledge of English is required and a knowledge of other local languages, including Kannada and Hindi, is desirable. Must live within 2-3 km of the library.

What you will do:

Conduct checkout/check-in of books ordered by subscribers Interact with parents and children who visit the library. Collect and catalog library resources including books and publications, arrange books on the relevant shelves, etc. Help people locate books of their choice, and genres according to type, author, and age group. Educate patrons on how to properly search for books both at the library and online on the website.

Salary:

Up to ₹15,000 per month (80% of contracted pay on probation)

Schedule

(flexible) :
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 4-7 PM

Standby availability on Wednesday/Saturday/Sunday is desirable.

Day/Evening Shift position.
