To manage and operate the school library efficiently, fostering a love for reading and learning among students, and supporting the educational goals of the CBSE curriculum by providing access to relevant resources and promoting information literacy.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Library Management
Organize, catalogue, classify, and maintain books and digital resources as per the Dewey Decimal Classification system or similar standards.
Implement and manage a computerized library management system.
Maintain accurate records of library inventory, issue/return registers, and overdue materials.
Prepare annual budget proposals for library resources.
2.
Student and Staff Support
Guide students and teachers in selecting age-appropriate and curriculum-relevant reading materials.
Conduct library orientation sessions for new students and staff.
Assist teachers in integrating library resources into classroom instruction.
3.
Reading and Literacy Promotion
Plan and execute reading programs, book fairs, storytelling sessions, and literary competitions.
Maintain a vibrant, inclusive, and child-friendly library environment that promotes reading habits.
Display new arrivals and reading recommendations prominently.
4.
Digital and Information Literacy
Train students to locate, evaluate, and use information ethically and effectively.
Provide access to and support the use of digital databases, e-books, and online learning tools.
5.
Policy Implementation
Enforce library policies and rules in alignment with CBSE and school guidelines.
Ensure compliance with CBSE's
School Library Guidelines
(latest edition).
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library and Information Science (B.Lib.Sc. / M.Lib.Sc.).
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a school environment preferred.
Familiarity with CBSE curriculum and library software (e.g., Libsys, KOHA, etc.) is desirable.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Passion for children's literature and educational development.

Effective communication in English (knowledge of Hindi is an advantage)
