Key Responsibilities:Library Management:
Organize and maintain the library's physical and digital resources, including books, journals, newspapers, and reference materials.
Develop and implement library policies and procedures.
Maintain an up-to-date catalog of resources using library management software.
Oversee the circulation of materials (issue/return system) and manage overdue tracking.
Academic Support:
Assist students and faculty in locating and using library materials effectively.
Guide users in conducting research and referencing academic sources.
Curate collections that align with the curriculum and academic goals of the institution.
Inventory & Procurement:
Recommend new books and resources for purchase based on syllabus needs, faculty requests, and student interests.
Conduct regular audits and stock verification.
Coordinate with vendors and publishers for procurement and subscriptions.
Reading Promotion:
Organize reading programs, book fairs, author visits, and other literary events to encourage reading habits among students.
Prepare reading lists and thematic displays aligned with important days and events.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate records of library usage, book issues/returns, and damage/loss reports.
Submit monthly and annual library reports to the Principal or Academic Office.
Ensure proper maintenance of library infrastructure and adherence to discipline within the library.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Library Science (B.Lib / M.Lib).
Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a librarian, preferably in an academic setting.
Familiarity with library automation software (e.g., Koha, Libsys) is an advantage.
