[sigma university] is seeking a highly organized, knowledgeable, and service-oriented
University Librarian
to manage the overall administration, development, and modernization of the university library. The Librarian will oversee library operations, manage digital and physical collections, and ensure access to high-quality academic resources that support teaching, learning, and research.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, develop, and manage library services, systems, policies, and resources in alignment with the academic goals of the university.
Supervise library staff, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
Maintain and expand access to print, digital, and electronic library resources including e-journals, databases, and institutional repositories.
Organize and maintain the classification, cataloguing, circulation, and archiving of library materials using standardized systems (e.g., Dewey Decimal, MARC).
Assist students, faculty, and researchers in locating, accessing, and evaluating academic information.
Implement and manage library management systems (LMS/ILS) and ensure digital transformation of library services.
Plan and oversee budget allocations for library acquisitions, subscriptions, and maintenance.
Promote information literacy through training, workshops, and research support services.
Establish partnerships with other academic libraries, publishers, and consortia.
Ensure compliance with copyright, intellectual property laws, and academic publishing standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
Master's Degree in Library Science (MLIS) or equivalent from a recognized university.
Minimum 5 years of experience in an academic or university library, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
In-depth knowledge of library technologies, cataloguing standards, and digital resource management.
Familiarity with integrated library systems (e.g., Koha, Ex Libris, DSpace).
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
