The Librarian will be responsible for managing the school library by organizing, maintaining, and updating the collection of books and digital resources. The role involves assisting students and staff in accessing information effectively, promoting reading habits, and ensuring efficient day-to-day library operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Organize and maintain all library materials including books, periodicals, and digital resources.
Classify, catalogue, and shelve materials systematically.
Maintain accurate records of issued, returned, and overdue books.
Assist students and teachers in locating and selecting suitable reading and reference materials.
Promote reading programs, book fairs, and other literacy initiatives.
Manage library budgets and coordinate with vendors for new materials.
Ensure a quiet, organized, and welcoming library environment.
Maintain and update digital library management systems (if applicable).
Enforce library rules and ensure proper use of resources.
Repair, replace, or remove damaged and outdated materials as necessary.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science (B.Lib / M.Lib) from a recognized institution.
Experience:
1-5 years of relevant experience in a school or educational institution .
Skills:
Knowledge of library management systems and cataloguing techniques.
Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in computer usage and digital resource management.
Enthusiasm for books and promoting reading culture among students.
