Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic, detail-driven, and strategic
Legal & Compliance manager
to lead the legal operations, planning and compliance.
You will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end finance functions -- from budgeting and fund utilization to compliance, deal structuring, portfolio analysis, and investor reporting. You will partner directly with the CEO, founders, and business unit leaders to ensure fiscal discipline, monetization readiness, and capital efficiency across all verticals.

Manager - Legal & Compliance

designing, implementing, and monitoring a comprehensive legal and statutory compliance framework
that governs all operations across HIPL's diversified sectors--
including digital media, education, sports, hospitality, and international partnerships

Officer in Default, you will act as Key Management Personnel, executing responsibilities on behalf of Trustees, Directors, or Board members for these units
. As a
Manager - Legal & Compliance
, you will ensure that all operations comply with legal, ethical, and internal standards, while supporting business goals and managing risks. You will be instrumental in developing compliance programs, reviewing policies, and advising management on legal matters to ensure adherence to both external laws and internal regulations. You will ensure that every business transaction, agreement, policy, and strategic initiative strictly complies with
applicable Indian and international laws, regulatory norms, and ethical standards
. Acting as both a
legal guardian and compliance strategist
, you will play a critical role in
risk mitigation, contract governance, and legal advisory

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs):
1.
Legal & Contract Management
Draft, review, vet, and negotiate a wide range of commercial, digital, institutional, hospitality, and international contracts.
Prepare MoUs, NDAs, licenses, lease deeds, affidavits, undertakings, arbitration notices, and sports academy tie-ups.
Ensure robust legal protection in agreements involving digital ventures, sports entities, OTT platforms, and hospitality services.
2.
Compliance & Statutory Governance
Ensure adherence to relevant laws: Companies Act 2013, Contract Act, FEMA, FCRA, IT Act, DPDP Act, Consumer Protection Act, LLP Act, and Labor Laws.
Track evolving regulations and align internal SOPs, policies, and practices accordingly.
Maintain compliance checklists and ensure readiness for audits.
3.
Digital Media, Sports Law & Global Tie-Ups
Oversee IT Rules, MIB regulations, ASCI norms, and grievance redressal protocols for digital and OTT content.
Handle documentation for MYAS, AIFF, and SAI-affiliated sports academies.
Manage legal contracts and remittance structures under FEMA/RBI/LRS for international football/sports club tie-ups.
Obtain necessary NOCs from MIB, Sports Authorities, RBI, and State Departments.
4.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
Represent HIPL in litigation, arbitration, tribunal hearings, and legal consultations.
Liaise with external counsel, draft legal notices, affidavits, writ petitions, and monitor case progress.
5.
Policy Development & Legal Audits
Design and update internal legal policies, SOPs, compliance manuals, and code of conduct documents.
Lead compliance audits across contractual, statutory, and digital regulatory areas.
6.
Legal Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement
Advise leadership on commercial law, intellectual property, labor, education, tax, and international transactions.
Conduct awareness sessions and legal compliance workshops for staff and leadership teams.
7.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain an updated, organized repository of all legal contracts, registrations, licenses, litigation files, and compliance records.
Generate timely reports for board meetings, audits, and government inspections.

Engaging with regulators, law enforcement agencies, and public authorities.
Drafting SOPs for enforcement, escalation, and response.
Leading due diligence and compliance checks in mergers, partnerships, and JV deals.

Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience
6-8 years in finance leadership roles, preferably in startup ecosystems, VC-funded companies, or institutional venture builders.
Strong experience in both operational finance and strategic fundraising.
Prior exposure to managing multi-entity structures and vertical P&Ls.
Attributes
Financially rigorous, entrepreneurially agile.
Hands-on leader with strong execution ability and ethical grounding.
Skilled in stakeholder communication -- from boardrooms to founder war rooms.

Education
Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA in Finance from a Tier-1 institution.
