Major Duties and Responsibilities Legal Risk Management
Review and provide legal advice on MOUs, contracts, and tender documents to ensure compliance with statutory and legal requirements.
Monitor ongoing legal cases, providing timely updates and advice to management on the status and potential outcomes.
Collaborate with relevant departments to identify and manage legal risks, ensuring that appropriate action is taken where risks are identified.
Provide strategic legal advice to management to minimize risk, particularly in contract management, and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
Educate staff on legal requirements through training and the dissemination of legal updates, policies, and procedures.
Policy Development
Review and advise management on the legal implications of internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Draft and review contracts, agreements, and internal policies, ensuring that they align with statutory or legal requirements in all countries where the company operates.
Regulatory Compliance
Develop legal compliance checklists for each state of operation, ensuring that all necessary information is provided as required by local regulations.
Continuously monitor statutory obligations across states, advising management on areas requiring attention or action to maintain compliance.
Prepare and present monthly and quarterly compliance reports for executive management meetings.
Contract Negotiation and Management
Review and assess all contracts and related documents to identify legal implications, advising senior management on any critical issues that need attention.
Draft, review, and modify contracts and other legal documents to support business activities and ensure alignment with company objectives.
Provide guidance on contract matters to project managers or operational teams as required.
Develop and implement procedures for effective contract management, ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry best practices.
Negotiate, review, and draft documentation for business transactions, advising on checklists and timelines for timely submission of necessary information.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification.
At least 3 years of experience in a legal non-litigation role, preferably within a corporate or business environment.
Strong understanding of contract law, legal risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and drafting skills.
Ability to interpret and apply legal knowledge to business operations.
Attention to detail, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management.
Ability to collaborate effectively across various departments.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with legal frameworks and compliance requirements in multiple jurisdictions.
Experience in drafting and reviewing commercial contracts and policies.
Strong organizational and reporting skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
