Position Title: Legal Executive - Corporate Affairs
Location: Head Office / Corporate Office (with travel to store locations as required)
Experience Required:
2-3 years in a corporate legal function, preferably in retail, real estate, or multi-location operations
Role Objective:
To act as the legal backbone of Meena Bazaar's retail operations by ensuring timely and compliant drafting, review, and execution of all legal documents and agreements, including lease and licensing contracts. The role also involves proactively managing legal risks, coordinating with external counsel, and supporting strategic expansion with robust legal frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
End-to-End Legal Drafting: Independently draft, vet, and finalize a wide range of legal documents including lease deeds, vendor agreements, licensing agreements, indemnity bonds, power of attorney, NDAs, notices, and internal policies.
Lease & Property Management: Own and manage the entire lifecycle of lease agreements across all store locations - from initial negotiation support, legal due diligence, drafting, renewal, amendments, to termination.
Risk Identification & Mitigation: Analyze contracts and business practices to identify potential legal risks. Suggest preventive actions to safeguard company interests.
Legal Notices & Responses: Draft and issue legal notices to landlords, vendors, or defaulters. Coordinate timely and well-documented responses to notices or summons received.
Compliance & Legal Audits: Ensure legal compliance across all stores and offices including licensing, local municipal laws, and labour-related regulatory requirements. Maintain compliance trackers and lead internal legal audits periodically.
Litigation Support: Prepare documentation, briefs, and summaries for litigation. Liaise with retained external counsel on ongoing court matters or settlements. Represent the company at legal hearings when necessary.
Legal Record Management: Maintain a digital and physical repository of all legal documents with version control, status tracking, and key date alerts.
Advisory Support: Act as the first point of contact for internal teams on legal matters. Provide advisory input on business deals, vendor onboarding, or any expansion-related legal requirements.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with business development, admin, HR, and finance teams to ensure smooth implementation of legal processes across departments.
Skills & Competencies:
In-depth understanding of contract law, property law, labour regulations, and commercial law
Strong command over legal drafting, negotiation, and interpretation
Sound judgment in assessing legal risk and suggesting business-aligned legal solutions
Exceptional attention to detail and documentation discipline
Proficiency in MS Office, document management tools, and legal research databases
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
High level of discretion, integrity, and professional ethics
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized university (Master's degree preferred but not mandatory)
Experience working with retail, FMCG, real estate, or franchise-based businesses is a plus
Exposure to managing multi-location legal operations or retail lease portfolios preferred
Remuneration:
?20,000 - ?35,000 per month (Negotiable based on capability and interview performance)
