Job Description


As an Operations specialist within the Legal Discovery Management ("LDM") team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with innovative eDiscovery professionals across a wide variety of disciplines in a dynamic environment. You will perform custodial and/or data source research and identification, along with the preservation, collection, disposition, and/or secure delivery of data within pre-defined Service Level Agreements and turnaround times. In this role you will leverage various eDiscovery tools and/or liaise with internal and external technology partners and other stakeholders to facilitate the execution of these requests.

In addition, as a Product Owner specialist supporting the Legal Discovery Management Product Owner (LDMPO) team, you will work closely across LDM as well as our Legal Technology partners. You will act as the voice of the customer, accountable for the overall health and value delivered by the Product, and will be a subject matter expert in your Product area. You will need to be able to synthesize customer needs along with business strategic goals into a vision and roadmap for your product. Data and metrics are key to success and to assess product performance against business objectives.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to broader goals and initiatives across the eDiscovery spectrum in an effort to continuously develop, update and improve our eDiscovery program. To succeed in this dual role, it is key to work closely with both the global Operations team and Product Ownership team, and to be passionate about serving the needs of your internal clients.

Job Responsibilities:

Operations Specialist

  • Work as part of the eDiscovery operations team to respond to and fulfill eDiscovery requests across various data sources, including but not limited to electronic communications, voice, structured and unstructured data sources in support of litigation or regulatory inquiries
  • Coordinate with internal IT and business partners and external vendors in support of request fulfillment, including restoration of data with appropriate chain-of-custody documentation, where required
  • Maintain a level of understanding of the business uses for the systems from which data is being requested; develop and communicate requirements for eDiscovery to IT and 3 rd parties, including requirements gathering and partnerships with Product Owners
  • Support the continuous improvement of eDiscovery operational processes globally, including request processing, research, preservation, collection, disposition, delivery, and quality control
  • Draft and/or review process management documentation
  • Maintain organized updates and detailed matter/project notes and documentation
  • Communicate and escalate issues and problems to case teams, pilot expectations and track to resolution; anticipate, understand and proactively address questions related to fulfilling requests
  • Participate in project and initiative teams

Product Owner
  • In line with direction and guidance from product leadership, pilot priorities and the flow of work for assigned sub-products
  • Work with product leadership and key stakeholders to review and report on product performance, value, and business need
  • Use discretion in identifying and responding to complicated issues and assignments
  • Think proactively to identify new opportunities and optimise solutions
  • Facilitate collaboration between stakeholders who share common objectives
  • Contribute fully to the work of teams to deliver high quality solutions
  • Understand Business priorities and technology offerings, and collaborate with teams where appropriate

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience in eDiscovery

Operations Specialist
  • Direct experience with the preservation, collection, retention, disposition, recovery and analysis of data from various sources including but not limited to electronic communications (e.g. email, SMS, chat, etc.), voice, unstructured and structured systems
  • Familiarity with electronic communication archives and storage methods (e.g. MS Exchange, Connected Archive, Lotus Notes, Magnetic Tape, Enterprise Vault, NAS Storage, Hard Drives, Assentor, Digital Safe, NICE, Cisco, SharePoint)
  • Experience conducting the identification, preservations, collections of data from structured data systems, databases and/or applications, including project management and coordination
  • Familiar, knowledge/use or understanding of Legal chain-of-custody requirements, Regulatory processes and basic Federal Rules of Civil Procedure a plus.

Product Owner
  • Familiar, knowledge/use of Product Lifecycle, Product Ownership & Product Management
  • Familiar, knowledge/use of Agile Frameworks (Kanban, SCRUM, LeSS, etc)
  • Familiar, knowledge/use of Design Thinking Methodology
  • Familiar, knowledge/use of backup tape infrastructure (ArcServe, TSM, TDP, NetBackup) a strong plus
  • Project Management, ITIL, Sigma, ACEDS, PMP background a plus
  • Understanding of change management processes and procedures (SDLC, etc.) and experience working in a secure environment with sensitive data, including PII a plus.
General Qualifications:

  • Organizational knowledge of JPMC or Financial Services a strong plus
  • Self-motivated, organized, team-oriented person, with the ability to resolve multiple confidential and/or sensitive, time-critical, and competing priorities and projects
  • Self-starter; must be comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
  • Advanced PC and Microsoft skills in a Windows environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to track multiple workstreams
  • Effective communicator with a focus on customer satisfaction, quality, process, tools and people
  • Highly flexible, ability to respond to shifting priorities
  • Intellectual rigor, high levels of self-motivation and emotional intelligence
  • Analytical skills, problem solving and good critical thinking skills
