Legal Counsel

with expertise in

cyber law

and

dispute resolution

Position Overview



The Legal Counsel will play a key role in handling complaints, managing legal risks, and negotiating out-of-court settlements. The ideal candidate must be a

licensed lawyer

with strong knowledge of Indian cyber laws, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to represent corporate interests in high-pressure situations. This is a

travel-intensive role

, requiring regular travel across India to engage with complainants, attend legal meetings, and negotiate settlements on behalf of the company.

Key Responsibilities



Address and manage complaints related to cyber incidents, unauthorized digital transactions, and end-user data security issues. Negotiate and execute out-of-court settlements with end-users and corporate clients, minimizing legal escalation. Draft and review legal documents including settlement agreements, NDAs, and compliance memos. Collaborate with internal teams including compliance, IT security, and operations to assess and resolve legal risks. Represent the company during mediations, regulatory consultations, and other legal proceedings. Maintain documentation of all legal actions, negotiations, and settlements. Provide strategic legal advice to senior leadership for mitigating future risks.

Mandatory Qualifications



LLB or LLM from a recognized institution. Must be a licensed advocate eligible to practice law in India. Minimum of 4-8 years of experience in cyber law, financial dispute resolution, or consumer legal matters. Proven experience in managing digital fraud cases and negotiating settlements out of court. Strong understanding of the Information Technology Act (India), RBI digital compliance norms, and data privacy regulations.

Travel Requirements



The role requires

frequent travel across India

(client locations, user meetings, mediations, and regional legal consultations). Candidates must be comfortable with on-ground negotiations and legal representation outside their base location.

Desirable Attributes



Previous experience with a fintech company, NBFC, legal firm specializing in tech law, or digital compliance matters. Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution forums and consumer grievance redressal mechanisms. Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
