Knowledge of Sec 138 is must. We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our legal team as a Legal Assistant. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support to attorneys, paralegals, and other legal professionals to ensure effective and efficient operation of the legal department. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for managing correspondence, organizing and maintaining legal documents, conducting legal research, and assisting with various tasks to support the legal team's objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide administrative support to attorneys, paralegals, and other legal professionals, including managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and making travel arrangements.
2. Organize and maintain legal files and documents, including electronic and paper filing systems.
3. Conduct legal research using various resources to gather information for cases and projects.
4. Assist in the preparation for trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings by organizing exhibits and documents.
5. Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties to obtain information and documents relevant to cases.
6. Assist with billing and invoicing processes, including preparing and tracking client invoices.
7. Coordinate with external parties, such as court personnel, opposing counsel, and vendors.
8. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to ethical standards and confidentiality rules.
9. Perform other administrative tasks and duties as assigned to support the legal team's needs.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or related field preferred.
2. Previous experience working as a legal assistant or in a similar administrative role within a law firm or legal department preferred.
3. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
6. Attention to detail and accuracy in handling legal documents and information.
7. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
8. Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
9. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
10. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
