About the team and the role




The

Patents & Open Source

team protects eBay's innovation through a global IP portfolio spanning patents, open source, trade secrets, standards, and defensive publications. As a

Legal Assistant

, you will support an AI?enabled patent drafting and prosecution program by owning document preparation, docket accuracy, and operational workflows that help attorneys and agents move high?quality filings at speed. This role is based in

Bengaluru, India

with hybrid work and cross?time?zone collaboration across APAC, EU, and US.

What you will accomplish



Maintain the patent

docket

: capture deadlines, verify accuracy, trigger reminders, and call out risks promptly. Prepare and assemble

filing packages

(specifications, claims, abstracts, figures, and required forms), apply style guides, and ensure complete, consistent, and submission?ready documents. Coordinate

signatures and supporting documents

(declarations, assignments, powers of attorney), track status, and archive final completed copies. Support

AI?assisted drafting workflows

by applying checklists and SOPs for formatting, citations, exhibits, and version control; perform light QA on tool outputs for completeness and consistency. Partner with attorneys/agents and outside counsel on

submission logistics

and acknowledgments; update trackers with filing details, official communications, and prosecution events. Compile and maintain

reference libraries

(prior art citations, IDS inputs, portfolio metadata), ensuring accurate cross?referencing across matters. Operationalize

templates and pattern libraries

for repeatable tasks; propose improvements to SOPs that increase quality and throughput. Run

IPSC

meeting operations (agenda, materials, minutes) and track outcomes (route, decisions, follow?ups) for invention disclosures and protection paths. Produce

metrics and status reports

for filings, office actions, allowances, and cycle times; maintain dashboards and audit?ready records. Coordinate

vendor administration and invoicing

for outside counsel and tooling; support purchase requests, matter openings, and reconciliation with budget trackers. Uphold

confidentiality and compliance

standards for sensitive data and documents; follow information handling, data governance, and record?retention requirements.

What you will bring



Experience in a

legal assistant/paralegal

capacity (IP/patent preferred) with strong document discipline, accuracy, and follow?through. High ownership of

docketing and deadlines

; proven ability to handle multiple matters and escalate risks early. Comfort with

AI?enabled workflows

, including prompt?driven document generation, structured templates, and output evaluation against SOPs. Strong written communication; ability to apply

style guides

and produce clean, consistent filing packages. Proficient with efficiency and collaboration tools; quick learner of legal

document management

systems and trackers. Collaborative, inclusive teammate who builds trust across functions; comfortable operating in a hybrid, cross?time?zone environment from
