The Legal Assistant (Real Estate) supports the legal department in managing property documentation, compliance, contracts, and due-diligence activities. The role involves assisting lawyers, coordinating with internal teams, handling legal paperwork, and ensuring accuracy in real estate transactions and regulatory processes.
Key Responsibilities
Documentation & Drafting
Assist in drafting, reviewing, and preparing legal documents such as sale deeds, lease agreements, MOUs, LOIs, development agreements, and power of attorney.
Prepare and maintain standard templates for legal contracts.
Organize, file, and update legal documentation related to land, property, and approvals.
Property Due Diligence
Conduct preliminary due-diligence on properties including title checks, ownership verification, encumbrance certificates, Khata/Patta records, and tax receipts.
Coordinate with advocates for title search reports, legal opinions, and verification of land records.
Assist in tracking property compliance and statutory documentation.
Regulatory & Compliance Support
Help ensure compliance with RERA, stamp duty, registration laws, and local municipal regulations.
Prepare documentation for property registration, approvals, and submissions with government authorities.
Track timelines for renewals, approvals, and statutory obligations.
Coordination & Communication
Liaise with internal departments (sales, projects, finance) for legal clarifications and documentation needs.
Coordinate with external lawyers, government offices, registration departments, and consultants.
Handle customer legal documentation queries in real estate transactions.
Record Keeping & Reporting
Maintain organized records of agreements, deeds, litigation files, notices, and approvals.
Track contract execution status and maintain databases of property documents.
Prepare periodic reports and updates for management on legal matters and property documentation.
Litigation & Dispute Support
Assist in collating documents for court cases, arbitration matters, and legal notices.
Coordinate with legal counsel and maintain case-related files and schedules.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, or related field (LLB preferred).
2-5 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, ideally in the real estate industry.
Strong understanding of property documentation, land laws, registration processes, and compliance.
Proficiency in MS Office and document management.
