The DAV Group - Chennai, functioning under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Arya Samaj Educational Society was established in 1970 at Gopalapuram in Chennai with just 50 students. The Group today, caters to over 40,000 students across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. It has a staff of 1500 plus which includes 1,200 teachers. Four of our branches have been consistently ranked amongst top 15 schools in the country.

In addition to K-12 schooling, DAV has recently ventured into Higher Education with DAV-SMK Fomra College of Arts & Science at Kelambakkam, Chennai.

Lecturer in English

Job description

The English Lecturer is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in English language skills and literature to students at the collegiate level. This role involves designing engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and fostering a deep understanding of the English language and its literary traditions. The lecturer will contribute to curriculum development, participate in academic activities, and engage in professional development opportunities.

Qualification

Master's or Ph.D. in English literature, language, or related field. Previous teaching experience at the collegiate level preferred. Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written. Strong understanding of English grammar, syntax, and literary analysis. Passion for teaching and fostering student learning. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse academic environment. Commitment to student success and academic excellence.

Responsibilities

Teach English language skills including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Introduce students to classic and contemporary English literature, analyzing themes, characters, and literary techniques. Assess student comprehension and proficiency through exams, essays, and projects. Provide constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth. Participate in departmental meetings and collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development. Stay updated on current trends and best practices in English language teaching and literature. Mentor and advise students on academic and career-related matters. Contribute to the academic community through research, publications, or presentations.
Salary shall commensurate with experience
