Lead - Vision Engineering (Automation)
Position Summary
HYA Tech Private Limited is seeking a highly skilled
Lead Vision Engineer
with a strong Mechanical Engineering background and extensive experience in
machine vision systems
,
industrial automation
, and
New Product Introduction (NPI)
. The candidate will lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced vision solutions that enhance product quality, process efficiency, and automation reliability.
Lead the vision engineering function and guide junior engineers in project execution.
Manage multiple automation and NPI-related vision projects from concept to commissioning.
Ensure timely delivery of vision solutions aligned with production and customer requirements.
Vision System Design & Development
Architect and develop advanced
machine vision applications
for inspection, measurement, and defect detection.
Select and validate suitable
cameras, lenses, lighting systems, filters, and controllers
.
Develop and optimize vision algorithms using Cognex, Keyence, Halcon, OpenCV, or similar platforms.
Automation Integration
Integrate vision systems with
robots, PLCs, cobots, and motion control systems
.
Collaborate with automation, mechanical, and electrical teams for seamless equipment integration.
Perform root cause analysis and implement improvements for cycle time, accuracy, and stability.
NPI (New Product Introduction)
Lead vision engineering input for NPI builds and pilot runs.
Conduct feasibility studies and determine inspection capability for new product designs.
Define vision specifications, validation criteria, and critical-to-quality parameters during NPI.
Manufacturing Support
Support shop-floor operations by troubleshooting and resolving vision-related issues.
Improve existing vision stations by upgrading optics, lighting, or algorithms.
Implement regular maintenance, calibration, and system performance checks.
Documentation & Compliance
Prepare and review requirement specs, design documents, SOPs, FAT/SAT reports, and work instructions.
Ensure adherence to safety standards, customer requirements, and industry best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Quality, NPI, Process Engineering, R&D, and Production teams.
Provide training and guidance to operators, engineers, and cross-functional members.
Required Skills & Experience
8-10 years of hands-on experience in
machine vision engineering
within automation or manufacturing.
Strong foundation in
Mechanical Engineering
with knowledge of industrial machinery and manufacturing processes.
Proven experience in
leading NPI projects
, including prototype-to-production transitions.
Proficiency in vision platforms like
Cognex, Keyence, Halcon, VisionPro, or OpenCV
.
Expertise in image processing techniques: pattern matching, OCR, barcode reading, measurements, and defect inspection.
Experience integrating vision systems with
PLC, robotics, and automation equipment
.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging capabilities.
Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and lead a small team.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of
robotics
(Fanuc, ABB, UR, etc.).
Programming skills in Python/C++ for advanced vision applications.
Experience with metrology, sensors, and industrial instrumentation.
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
