Role Purpose:
This role sits within the FTSE Russell Operations team, supporting FTSE Russell - Index Review and Management within the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG). The Team Leader plays a meaningful role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial indices by conducting detailed reviews and assessments managed by the team. They ensure that index methodologies are followed meticulously, and any vital adjustments are made promptly to reflect market changes accurately.
This role ensures accuracy, relevance, and compliance with regulatory standards for all indexes managed by the team. The Index Review Lead Specialist supports and guides a team responsible for the review and maintenance of various indexes used within the organization. This role involves developing team members, ensuring accuracy and integrity of indexes, and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Please note that the working hours for this position can vary as the business needs require. This means that weekend work, extended hours, and market holiday coverage can and will be expected to meet critical Business Objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Index Review Process Expertise
Serve as the subject matter expert for the Index Review process, ensuring precision, efficiency, and adherence to regulatory and internal standards.
Evaluate and implement index methodology changes in collaboration with research and development teams, ensuring seamless integration into rebalance procedures.
Represent the index team in internal forums and client meetings, providing expert insights on equity index methodologies and rebalance strategies.
Quality Assurance / Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with index review activities, implementing appropriate controls and safeguards to minimize exposure.
Implement quality control measures to maintain the integrity and reliability of indexes, including regular audits and reviews.
Adhere to regulatory requirements and internal governance policies related to Index data management and Review Process.
Partnership:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, research, and technology, to support business initiatives and deliver valuable solutions.
Liaise with external data providers and partners to optimize data sourcing and integration efforts.
Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to enhance the overall efficiency and competitiveness of the process.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate documentation of index review procedures, guidelines, and standard methodologies, ensuring accessibility and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Prepare and present regular reports on index review activities, findings, and outcomes to stakeholders, management, and relevant committees.
Supervise key performance indicators and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the rebalance process and identify opportunities for improvement.
Client & Issue Resolution Expertise
Act as a point of escalation for complex client queries and operational challenges related to index construction, calculation, and maintenance.
Provide expert-level guidance and resolution strategies to ensure client satisfaction and operational continuity.
Qualification Experience:
Proven experience in index management, financial data analysis, or related roles, with at least 7 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
Strong understanding of financial markets and index methodologies.
Proficiency in relevant software and tools, such as Excel, Eikon, and index calculation platforms.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Strong leadership abilities, with the capacity to empower and inspire team members to achieve goals and objectives.
Attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and integrity.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment and adapt to changing priorities or requirements.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standard methodologies related to index management and financial data governance.
