As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Bank - Payments Technology team, you will play a crucial role in an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. This position is perfect for team members who are passionate about creating high-performance, elegant user experiences in the finance sector and excel in a dynamic environment with custom backend integrations. You will collaborate directly with the lead developer and offer support to both users and technology partners within the firm.

Job responsibilities

Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience Hands-on React expertise along with strong Next.js and/or Express.js experience. Advanced understanding of modern Web Platform standards and TypeScript. Proven experience integrating and consuming RESTful APIs Comfort producing complete test suite coverage against developed features. Full working knowledge of CORS requirements and OAuth patterns. Strong grasp of modern frontend tooling (bundlers, transpilers, package managers, JS runtimes). Understanding of performance optimization, especially when parsing and rendering large datasets ((Databricks, Snowflake, AWS Redshift, KDB). Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Experience with Storybook. Knowledge of financial or trading applications. Exposure to cloud deployment environments.
