WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We\'re looking for a talented engineering leader to join our Global Technology Reliability Engineering team in the role of Lead, Reliability Engineering. This leader will have a strong software engineering background, a demonstrated ability to influence and partner, and show a passion for learning and mentoring. This critically important leader will have a track record of helping to deliver reliable and observable digital experiences through the application of concepts from Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, and other relevant disciplines. WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON Site Reliability Engineers are blessed to work with a variety of technologies and teams, have the opportunity to solve complex issues, and contribute to the most important areas of Nike\'s global business. As a Lead, Reliability Engineering you will: . In the capacity of an individual contributor, execute a series of observability-driven applications, lead the ground stack of engineering with technical capabilities, Partner with ground leaders in product, and engineering, and operations to identify and address risks, vulnerabilities, and limits in our system before they lead to large-scale issues . Improve the availability, reliability, and observability of Nike\'s services and reduce the burden of human toil with tooling, automation, or process change . Define a roadmap and execution strategy in collaboration with peer engineering teams, partners, and product management teams . Identify, curate, and adapt key metrics for not only system health and performance, but for team success . Coach assigned engineers on problem-solving, analysis, influence, architecture . Hands-on Technical capabilities on observability tools. SignalFx/Splunk specific will be value added. The candidate shall be responsible to get the required libraries delivered through the reporting team. Strong hold on 1-2 programming languages with AWS services experience. WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH The Lead, Reliability Engineering will contribute to and mentor a team of talented Site Reliability Engineers focused on delivering reliable and observable software used by millions of athletes. around the world. You will be a part of the Resilience Engineering organization which includes Reliability Engineering, Observability Engineering, and Quality & Release Engineering. While a variety of engagement methods exist, SREs are primarily embedded with product delivery teams across Global Technology. This leader will work with those scrum teams and all the roles adjacent and therein. These product delivery teams can span all of Nike\'s most critical digital properties: Nike.com, Nike App, SNKRS, brick & mortar retail, wholesale platforms, marketing technologies, order fulfilment and distribution platforms, etc. In order to deliver Reliability Engineering goals, you will partner and influence at multiple levels of not only Global Technology but across business units and geographical locations. WHAT YOU BRING . Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience . Proficient knowledge of object-oriented programming combined with 8+ years of software development experience: Node.js, Java, Python etc. . Full stack application experience, throughout its lifecycle (Design, Engineering, Testing, Deployment, Support) . Understanding of Docker, Kubernetes or other container technologies . Familiar with NoSQL & SQL strategies to ensure data storage is designed for security, reliability, availability, maintainability, and performance . Experience with implementing and consuming RESTful (Representational State Transfer) web services, integrating legacy and modern RESTful APIs . Experience with CI/CD (Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery), including relevant experience with tools like Jenkins 2.0 . Knowledgeable with GitHub (version control systems) and Jira (issue tracking / ALM tools) . Hands-on experience with AWS cloud platform. . Good understanding for Observability tools such as Splunk/SignalFx and NewRelic . Hands-on experience in distributed software monitoring, application performance monitoring & its visual representation
