We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (Lead SDET) to own and drive quality engineering across multiple implementations of our product platform. This role involves designing automation frameworks, enabling scalable test execution, implementing BDD-based workflows, and ensuring high levels of product reliability for diverse customer deployments.
The role emphasizes technical leadership, deep engineering ownership, and hands-on automation, while people management responsibilities remain limited to mentoring and guiding less experienced team members.
Role -Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end quality engineering strategy for multiple product implementations.

• Architect, develop, and maintain automation frameworks for UI, API, functional, and integration testing.

• Champion and implement BDD (Behavior-Driven Development) practices using tools like Cucumber, Behave, or SpecFlow.

• Build high-quality automated test suites that integrate seamlessly with CI pipelines and release workflows.

• Define and enforce quality gates, test strategies, and scalable automation patterns.

• Partner with engineering, architecture, and product teams to derive test scenarios and build reliable testing workflows.

• Drive defect analysis, triage efforts, and ensure thorough regression coverage.

• Implement tools and utilities for test data generation, environment setup, and diagnostics.

• Mentor junior SDETs and drive quality best practices.

• Introduce lightweight AI-assisted testing approaches to improve test efficiency.

Required Technical Skills
Programming & Automation:

• Strong coding proficiency in Java and TypeScript/JavaScript. Familiarity with Python is a plus.

• Experience with automation tools like Playwright, Cypress, Selenium.

• Experience with API automation via REST Assured, Postman.

• Experience with testing frameworks: JUnit, TestNG, PyTest, Mocha.

BDD Expertise:

• Strong hands-on experience with BDD methodologies.

• Experience writing Gherkin feature files and maintaining step definitions.

• Experience with Cucumber and related tools.

AI in Automation (Familiarity):

• Understanding of AI-assisted testing such as automated test case generation, summarizing failures, smart assertions.

• No need to build AI models; must know how to leverage AI QA tools.

CI/CD & Dev Tools:

• Strong experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

• Familiarity with Git, branching strategies, and artifact workflows.

Testing Competencies:

• Strong understanding of unit, integration, functional, regression, and E2E testing.

• Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter.

• Ability to conduct root-cause analysis across systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with enterprise SaaS or configurable multi-tenant platforms.

Engineering graduate in Computer science or related fields.

• Exposure to test data management frameworks and service virtualization.

• Familiarity with contract testing frameworks.

Soft Skills

• Excellent analytical and debugging skills.

• Strong communication and influence within engineering teams.

• Ability to work in dynamic environments with multiple concurrent implementations.

• Ability to mentor junior engineers without heavy people management responsibilities.
