Job Description


We're looking for an exceedingly talented Lead Release Engineer to work as part of the Risk Intelligence Engineering Support team.
As a Lead Release Engineer, you'll be responsible for defining and driving the release strategy for our products, ensuring efficient, reliable, and secure delivery across environments. You will lead initiatives to optimize CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and leverage AWS services to improve scalability and operational efficiency. Collaborating closely with Development, QA, and Operations teams, you'll ensure that release processes align with architectural standards and business objectives, enabling faster time-to-market and enhanced customer value.
This role requires participation in a shift-based to support critical release activities and production deployments outside of regular business hours. Candidates should be prepared to monitor release windows, respond to deployment issues, troubleshoot failures in CI/CD pipelines, and coordinate with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth releases, service continuity, and minimal downtime.
Mentoring members of the team also forms a crucial part of the role, working alongside the team management to ensure that the team has the capabilities it needs to deliver.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Release Management: Own and manage the end-to-end release process for multiple applications and services.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Development: Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS Code Pipeline.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Deploy and manage applications on AWS, leveraging services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, CloudFormation, and IAM.
  • Automation: Drive automation for build, deployment, and monitoring processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement best practices for security, compliance, and governance in release processes.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Set up monitoring tools and troubleshoot release issues promptly.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear documentation for release processes, pipelines, and configurations.

Preferred skills:
  • Experience: 8-13 years in Release Engineering or DevOps roles, with at least 2 years in a lead capacity.
  • Cloud Expertise: hands-on experience with AWS services and infrastructure automation.
  • CI/CD Tools: Proficiency in Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar tools.
  • Version Control: Expertise in Git and branching strategies.
  • Containerization: Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with tools like Datadog, Grafana, or CloudWatch.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Knowledge of blue-green deployments, canary releases, and feature toggles.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
Education/ Certifications:
A good relevant Engineering degree is desirable, but experience and the right approach to work are just as important.
