A Lead QC Engineer for offshore oil and gas projects is responsible for ensuring all project activities, materials, and deliverables comply with project specifications, client requirements, and international standards. Key duties include developing quality plans, managing inspections (including those at vendor shop fabrication yards and offshore, like for steel structures), overseeing non-conformance reports, and coordinating with clients and project teams to ensure quality is maintained throughout construction and commissioning. Core responsibilities

  • Quality planning and management: Develop and implement the project's Quality Plan and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Compliance and review: Ensure engineering deliverables, vendor documents, and construction activities comply with project specifications and standards.
  • Inspection and testing: Oversee inspections and tests on materials, equipment, and construction work, including critical offshore structures like jackets and top sides
  • Documentation and reporting: Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Corrective Action Requests (CARs), ensuring their timely closure. Collect and file all required quality records.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with clients, third parties, and other project teams (construction, commissioning) to manage quality issues and facilitate audits.
  • Audits: Conduct internal quality audits and support external audits by clients or third parties.
  • Subcontractor oversight: Ensure subcontractors and suppliers adhere to all quality requirements.
Key skills and qualifications
  • Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of civil, structural, and/or mechanical aspects of offshore projects. Knowledge of applicable standards like IS/IEC.
  • Leadership and coordination: Ability to supervise and coordinate QC personnel and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Problem-solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address quality issues as they arise.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and coordination.
  • Documentation: Exceptional attention to detail and documentation capabilities.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced project environment.
