Position Overview

Boeing India Engineering is currently looking Lead Propulsion Design Engineer to join their team in Bangalore, Karnataka. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) and Boeing Global Services (BGS) business organizations.

A successful candidate will understand the importance of collaboration and shall work with the Engineering Manager, Project lead & Aerospace Mechanical Design and Systems expert to develop or optimize the designs, engineering process, analyze the supplier quality issues, support the development of cutting-edge technologies and digital initiatives.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides vendor engagement, project management, and integration of vendor-initiated design modifications and configuration updates
  • Addresses and investigates fleet, production, and vendor issues related to the nacelle structures, including Service Requests, NoEs, NCRs, EPDs, ELRs, CNs, CARs, etc.
  • Supports vendor engineering change proposals, including review and approval of supplier drawings and documents
  • Assists in managing Boeing Specification Control Document (SCD) requirements, including SCD revisions and new development if required
  • Engagement with vendors to establish qualification test requirements, planning, and execution
  • Assists in developing design solutions to support product improvements
  • Provide support for safety and compliance investigations
  • Manage and prioritize multiple tasks in support of certification and airplane delivery schedules
  • Interface with suppliers and external partners to drive successful collaborations on Propulsion nacelle structures
  • Coordinate with internal partners such as EME, RM&T, ASE, Stress, Flight Test, Service Engineering, and Reg Admin to successfully meet project goals and schedules
  • Lead teams to assure proper integration of propulsion structures changes with other airplane systems
  • Communicate project status, risks, issues, and opportunities to Propulsion and Program Leadership
  • Knowledge of Nacelle structures design, performance, integration, design variables and requirements. Ability to interface with engine and component suppliers.
  • Knowledge of propulsion structure analysis principles, processes, methods, and tools for aerospace vehicles and their components, including company and industry standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of methods, processes and requirements related to safety, reliability, maintainability and supportability of propulsion structures on aerospace vehicles.
  • Ability to develop innovative propulsion system technologies, tools, and processes. Ability to create and validate new concepts, and design and analysis processes. Collaborates in multi-disciplinary technology development. Capability to communicate to customers and prepares development plans and proposals
  • In this role, the Engineer will work independently and lead a team. Pro-actively seek information and come up with conceptual and detailed designs based on the requirements. Work towards successfully completion of the statement of work.
  • This position will participate and support initiatives of Boeing India organization related to engineering excellence, employee development, customer engagement etc.
  • This position will be located in Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center, Bangalore, India.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical or equivalent disciplines.
  • Knowledge of aircraft nacelle structures, systems and architecture
  • Strong technical skills and demonstrated ability to understand complex problems
  • Strong project and time management skills; Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple projects in support of key milestones and aircraft delivery schedules
  • Excellent communication skills; Ability to clearly communicate complex scenarios with internal and external Leaders and technical SMEs
  • Experience working multi-disciplinary projects
  • Familiar with ENOVIA, REDARS, ETAC, IVT, CATIA (PDM a plus)
  • Familiar with establishing RCCAs / fault trees / cause maps
  • Knowledge of airplane safety is preferred
  • Experience with certification is preferred
  • Understanding of large transport category aircraft certification process is preferred
  • In depth knowledge of GD&T in Aerostructures and able to perform complex Tolerance Stack-up Analysis.
  • Experienced in Engineering release workflow management with high quality standards.
  • Proficient in Lean Principles, Quality Tools and able to Design for Assembly, Manufacturing and Testing.
  • Knowledge of Stress Analysis fundamentals and able to understand Free Body Diagrams.
  • Familiarity with CFR 25.601, 25.603, 25.605, 25.609 and 25.301.
  • Able to work under general supervision and self-direct work based on needs of customers, product, and stakeholders
  • Able to represent the company professionally in demanding environments
  • Able to work effectively with the entire value stream to accomplish desired results
  • Able to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Able to independently develop innovative solutions that meet business targets
  • Perform with positive attitude and highest ethics.
  • Able to verify accuracy of technical and non-technical data. Gathers relevant data for root cause analysis and produces changes to resolve the discrepancies in design packages.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional team. Must be willing to work flexible hours (early or late as needed) to interface with Boeing personnel around the world.
Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 12 to 16 years\' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+ 13 years\' related work experience etc.)
