The Role: Lead Legal Advisor, APAC

The Grade: 11

The Location: Gurgaon, India

What\'s In It For You?: S&P Global Commodity Insights (\xe2\x80\x9cSPGCI\xe2\x80\x9d) is seeking a dynamic commercially-minded lawyer to join its APAC Legal team as Lead Legal Advisor based in India. This is a varied and interesting role which includes negotiating and drafting commercial contracts with key partners and clients, providing legal advice and support for sales, marketing and related support activities across APAC, as well as assisting the Legal team on a wide range of other legal matters including regulatory and intellectual property issues.

Responsibilities:
Negotiating, drafting and advising on commercial contracts and documents, including service agreements, distribution agreements, customer contracts, vendor contracts, consultancy agreements and marketing agreements.
Working directly with internal and external clients in the contract negotiation process, including ensuring that sales and the business comply with laws, company processes and guidelines.
Delivering legal and best practices training to the business.
Advising the business on important legal issues facing the SPGCI business, including antitrust, employment, privacy, intellectual property, and media law.
Providing support in advising the business on emerging legal and regulatory risks in APAC.
Managing outside counsel as appropriate.
Working with S&P Global\xe2\x80\x99s Legal Department Centers of Excellence on a variety of legal matters concerning the SPGCI business.
Advising the product development team on legal issues relating to new product offerings and provide ongoing legal support with regard to existing products and product modifications.
Advising on corporate matters relating to SPGCI\xe2\x80\x99s legal entities, such as corporate reorganisations and intercompany arrangements.
Partner with business executives to provide best-in-class legal support to SPGCI.
Escalate significant matters to Legal Department senior management.
Partner with S&P Global\xe2\x80\x99s Legal Department Centers of Excellence as needed (e.g., employment, M&A, litigation, corporate secretarial).
Partner with SPGCI\xe2\x80\x99s Compliance and Risk Teams as necessary.

Qualifications:
Education: Law degree. Qualified as a lawyer in England and Wales, Singapore, India or other common law jurisdiction.
Years of experience: At least 10 years of PQE within initial years of experience at a major law firm in India, followed by in-house experience practicing commercial law.
Strong interpersonal, organisational, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues in a simple and commercial manner.
Meticulous with excellent legal drafting skills.
Possesses sound legal knowledge and understanding.
Has worked regularly with regional business executives and senior management.
Pro-active and has the ability to think logically outside the box in order to provide practical win-win solutions to the business which effectively protects SPGCI\xe2\x80\x99s legal interests.
Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks, and work to tight deadlines.
Team player who acts in the best interests of the Company and the Legal team.
Has the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience in antitrust, employment, privacy, intellectual property and/or media law is a bonus.
