  • Deliver & execute all the assigned projects on time with good quality, cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure technical deliverables matches project requirements. Save engineering cost through use of productivity tools, standardization, re-use & application of technical expertise.
  • Act as technical project lead & provide technical leadership on customer projects for system automation and control to enable GEC Industry team to support entire project life cycle by leading customer conversation and adding value.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver/execute projects and ensure to meet 100% quality (Scope, Schedule and Budget defined for a project) and high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure project implementation follows the procedure of RA engineering and as defined in GEC/SSB Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Standardization in project and applications. Maximize reusability of standardized documents, applications, and engineering in projects.
  • Support Team Leader/Execution Manager in managing team performance, develop self and team capability and motivate the team to deliver with high productivity.
  • Ability to lead engineers from mix of SSB, GEC and CWF to attain project scope within schedule and budget.
  • Break down project activities, identify effort/skills required to complete the activities and sequence the activities. Communicates to his manager regarding the resource requirement as per the schedule of project activities.
  • Proactive communication to team lead/ Execution Manager and Customer during project execution.
  • Keep improving self-engineering capabilities and exchange best practice with other team members to improve team’s capabilities.
  • Cost reduction through process improvement, through development of reusable engineering, engineering standardization and use of available productivity tools.
  • Ensure reapplication and enhance productivity in the team through Lean Six Sigma (Standardization).
  • Work closely with the project management team to achieve customer acceptance. Demonstrate application & technical expertise to get repeat orders and retain customer satisfaction. Participates in capability demonstrations and sales support activities whenever required.
  • Recognized as a leader in their technical field and/or industry.
    • Provide analysis and design recommendations in industry standards
    • Participate in opportunity pursuits, providing technical application support for customer discussions
  • Mentor engineers
  • Works with customers to determine the optimal control system solution and determines applicable hardware and software control configuration/architecture
  • Provide on-site control system commissioning as required
  • Function as the sole Lead Technical Engineer on projects and provide technical oversight to other Engineers on the project team
    • Act as the direct point of contact with customer for all technical aspects of the project
    • Lead and assign project related tasks of the engineering team for a project
    • Lead the development of technical specifications
    • Develop Work Breakdown structure for project and assign tasks, monitor performance, review results, coordinate efforts, and track hours of the project delivery team (local and remote)
    • Prepare technical aspects of project documentation and schedules in coordination with assigned project manager
    • Assist in preparing the technical aspects of supplier RFQ’s and review corresponding quotations
  • Manage and control technical documentation and ensure adherence to all quality/ISO processes
  • Driving various knowledge management initiatives by supporting development of success stories / Application notes / Demos.
  • Enabling technical leadership in the team
    • Handle and respond to any technical queries on subject matter globally during any phase (from proposal to commissioning)
    • Responsible for keeping track and competency requirement
    • Supporting commercial engineering team by providing optimized technical and commercial solution
    • Review effort estimations and apply methods for optimization
    • Lead/participate in feed and detailed engineering

Job Related Competencies
  • Technical expert on RA hardware and software products like Control Logix, Logix 5000/Studio 5000, FT View SE/ME, PLC 5/SLC, ACM, PowerFlex Drives, RA Legacy Drives (1336/1395, Reliance DC Drives), Connected Component Workbench, Drive Executive, Reliance Automax. Additionally, candidate must have very good knowledge of Autogen Library. Candidates with expertise on similar products from other makes and who are quick learners may also apply.
  • Good level of knowledge in Integrated Architecture, Standard Drives, Conventional/Intelligent Motor Control, Safety Products, MES / Information Systems, Networking.
  • High level of Application Knowledge in identified industry, and basic understanding of Project Management, Lean Six Sigma Skill, EHS (Environment, Health & Safety).
  • Technical Expertise of Designing (Engineering calculations & sizing) of Coordinated Drive System, Common DC Bus systems, Dynamic Breaking, Knowledge of AC & DC Motor & selection of Motors according to application, Upgradation & conversions of Legacy AC Drives to Powerflex Drives, DC to AC Drives conversions.
  • Domain Expert in Metals Treating & Finishing-Pickling Lines, Galvanizing & Plating Line, Painting & Coating Line, Slitter & Rewinding Lines. Expertise in Treating & Finishing-Pickling Lines fundamentals (Tension calculation/Load Sharing/Inertia compensation/Diameter calculation etc.) & must have minimum 5+ years commissioning experience in Treating & Finishing lines.
  • Candidate with application knowledge in Metals- Melt Shop & Casting - (Blast Furnace, Basic Oxygen Furnace, Ladle Metallurgy Furnace, Slab & Thin Slab Caster, Billet & Bloom Caster, Tundish & Ladle Control & Torch Control) & 5+ years Commissioning experience in Metal Shop & casting may also apply.
  • Application knowledge in Metals Shaping – Hot Strip Mill, Cold Mill, Rod & Wire Mill, Skin Pass Mill, Tube/Pipe Mill & Commissioning experience of more than 5+ years in Metal Shaping lines will get additional consideration.
  • Candidate with commissioning experience in Crane & Hoist applications will get additional consideration.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Instrumentation / Control / Electronics /Electrical Engineer.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in application and engineering of the Automation System in Metals & Drive Applications. Efficient in handling the execution of project activities, executes critical project activities and gets the work delivered from team members.
  • Should have gone through complete project life cycle from design phase to commissioning.
  • Should have good understanding of Industry specific technology/application requirement such as Coordinated Drive systems, Upgradation & conversion of Drives, Expertise in Metals process. Should have sound knowledge of Metals Casting, Treating & Finishing, Shaping etc.
  • Candidate with Knowledge of Reliance Automax migration will get additional consideration.
  • Is cost conscious and keeps an update of the cost incurred versus planned. Takes decisions during project execution to support the PM control project costs.
