Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide technical component assistance to Design Engineering including alternate sources, End of Life evaluations and technical/application notes information.
• Drive consistent End of Life (EOL) process across product line / cross functional teams
• Gather and organize component technical data; including technical data sheets, Material specifications, environmental compliance, reliability worksheets and objective evidence of manufacturer part number
• Provide RoHS / REACH / Prop65 support- review existing parts, identify RoHS equivalent parts, and provide technical assistance to the various Engineering and Production teams
• BOM Scrub on existing component data for accurate and complete manufacturer name, part number, description with RoHS compliance data
• Review and process Engineering Change Orders ECO / ECN
• Review PCN's and take necessary actions proactively to mitigate the risks
• Research and standardize part Number data forms attributes
• Conduct required reliability MTBF calculations & test analysis and part substitutions for components
• Lead product cost take-out / Design to Value (DTV) projects to ensure cost benefits, quality, service and reliability goals.

• Drive resolving production or quality related component issues. Find suitable replacement parts, identify root cause of issue and communicate issue to the manufacturer.
• Support sourcing to locate old, obsolete or hard to procure parts when the buyers cannot find parts needed for production.
• Assist purchasing with buying issues for COE parts. This includes identifying alternate sources, verifying suggested replacement parts and assisting the buyer in lead-time and pricing issues
• Lead and report on Special Projects to key stakeholders
• Assist in process changes / upgrades for component engineering tools
• Support corporate and agency requirements for quality, reliability and functionality of electronic components.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering - Electrical/Electronics or Mechanical
• At least 8 years of experience in Component Engineering.

• Must possess a good understanding of all facets of state of the art electronic component technologies including testing methodologies and component physiologies.
• Robust knowledge of Environmental Compliance directives: EU ROHS, China ROHS REACH, WEEE, California Prop65.
• Working knowledge of regulatory approval such as UL, FCC..etc..
• Must pay attention to detail. Approach work in a meticulous and thorough manner.
• Clearly communicate ideas and concepts to a variety of technical and non-technical people across multiple functions/levels as part of team.

• Competently analyzes and prioritizes information to make appropriate recommendations.
• Must be flexible and able to perform well under pressure.
• Must understand technology and grasp challenging technical issues.

• Must be highly self-motivated with a results-oriented, proven track record.

• Must have ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Must be committed to meeting quality standards.
• Must bring a positive, can-do attitude to the work place each day.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Power Point
• Knowledge of Excel macros, VB macros and automation for productivity enhancement will be an added advantage

• Material Science / In depth Knowledge on Material will be an added advantage
• This position has minimal travel requirements (up to 5%).
