Job Description


Summary The Lead Engineer -Failure Investigations for Engineering Material Systems organization will execute and deliver on materials and processes (M&P) technology to meet commercial engine program objectives and external customer expectations. Additionally the person may be involved with development of new materials to help GE Aviation. The person will be involved in failure investigations of components Roles and Responsibilities Deliver on providing failure investigations support for commercial engines in service, which will include investigating root cause of field events, shop findings along with supporting manufacturing and repair shops Provide necessary materials support for root cause analysis and failure investigations. Provide necessary materials support for mechanical and environmental material testing requirements. Provide necessary materials support with development of new and alternate materials Partner with design and systems organizations for investigations Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers Share engineering information and promote open dialogue Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures Foster and inspire a collaborative work style and display team-oriented behavior with a proactive example of communication internally and externally Required Qualifications Bachelors/ Master\'s Degree in Metallurgy, Materials science, Materials engineering, manufacturing or closely related technical field from an accredited college or university Deep understanding of materials, processes, applications and failure modes. Minimum of 6 years of experience in an engineering position for candidates with Bachelors degree, 4 years for candidates with Masters degree Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Aviation / Automotive / Aerospace materials and applications investigations Desired Characteristics Proven track records of technical depth in one or multiple areas in materials engineering / materials & process applications Strong leadership skills and experience Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously Networking and ability to coherently work in a team environment Experience in working in ISO17025/NADCAP accredited facility will be added plus About Us GE is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
