Role Summary and Responsibilities:

• Translating the Engineering requirements into a Test requirements, development of component specifications for lab test setup , Building the required test facilities and supporting the Validations of Electromechanical locomotive components and subsystems, e.g. large Induction motors/Traction Motors, alternator, inverter, insulation system, cables, busbars, transformer, integrations with closed loop control system for the Motor and invertor testing.
• Drive operational and execution excellence through innovative planning, resource engagement and close working with both local and global stakeholder teams. The individual will also drive synergies with external labs/partners to expand our capabilities beyond in-house capacity
• Drive high utilization of test set ups and meet engineering productivity through smart validation
• Work closely with site cross functional teams of EHS, Facilities, Compliance, Import/Export, Logistics etc. to integrate lab plans as applicable for implementation.
• Own his/her own project related QMS-EHS process for testing & new developmental activities.
• Coordinate & lead the project related design reviews with all stake holders.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelors/Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Electrical engineering discipline from reputed institute
• Min of 10 to 12 years of Experience in design, development and validation preferably in the field of Electrical Components in general and Specific Experience in testing of locomotive\xe2\x80\x99s electrical components like Motor. Alternator, Inverter, transformer, compressor, IGBTs etc.

• Should have experience in Environmental Stress testing for electrical & electronic components, desired experience in IEC 60068 (EQT test procedures)
• Should be able to perform & conduct a detailed Power analysis for various electrical equipment & loads, should have experience in handling various power analyzers, digital or mixed signal oscilloscopes, DAQ system etc.

• Shall have good product knowledge and technical Depth in Electromechanical locomotive components and subsystems, e.g. large Induction motors/Traction Motors, alternator, inverter, insulation system, cables, busbars, transformer, integrations with closed loop control system for the Motor and invertor testing.
• Having good knowledge of: manufacturing processes of electrical machines, insulation systems and materials, magnetic materials, both LV and HV, cables, busbars and induction motors, rotor dynamic balancing and machine alignment
• Should have good technical knowledge on international standards and best practices related to the electrical machines and electrical systems
• Should have good experience & knowledge component validation & should be able to understand the physics behind the component behavior under test conditions such as EMI/EMC, noise and vibration
• Shall be familiar with various Design & Simulation tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Visio, LabVIEW, Matlab, Mathcad, FE analysis etc.)
• Usage and Knowledge about six sigma tools like FMEA, Why-Why analysis..etc
• Ability to learn other software tool applications to support HMI and other application changes.

• Experience/familiarity in a lab environment with data acquisition systems, test instrumentation, industrial test laboratory environments and procedures

Desired Characteristics:

• Global exposure with experience of working with global partners
• Should have good knowledge on ISO17025 based lab process & any past relevant experience with NABL accredited lab will be preferred.
• Proven record of demonstrated expertise in Electrical component validation
• Design of test benches and rigs and for laboratory testing and prototype testing
• Advanced degree is a plus
• Demonstrated capability of leading projects and executing on time/quality/cost.
• Should have basic knowledge about Safety.
