Job Description

We are looking for a determined and ambitious Lead Developer (PHP) who will be responsible for developing and assisting in the evolution of the Kidadl.com platform and digital infrastructure. You will be delivering the technology vision for the company and to excel in this role you will be someone who enjoys working able in a dynamic fast-paced environment and serving a global family audience with best in class solutions to entertain and educate their kids. You'll also have the ability to understand problems from a logical perspective and manage the creation of effective technology solutions in a timely manner.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead, manage and hire for the development team
• Lead technical solutioning and problem-solving for the team
• Ability to quickly assimilate and grasp the current tech stack and technical debt and backlog
• Actively participate in the whole process of development, from initial design to deployment and support
• Working knowledge of backend API development to serve both the front end applications as well as third party APIs
• Write clean, high quality, well designed backend code
• Confident in resolving bugs in a rapid and timely manner
• Effective estimation of work and timely delivery to the highest quality standards
• Assist in analysing the technologies required for more complex projects

Requirements

• Results focused problem-solving mindset
• Proven backend development experience with excellent knowledge of PHP
• HTML5, CSS3/Sass, Javascript, JSON experience
• Strong ability to learn new skills and technologies
• Ability to manage a team and also deliver work independently
• Use and keep up-to-date with current best practices in web development
• Strong technical analysis and problem-solving skills
• Commercial experience with the following technologies: Restful services, MVC Framework (must-have), Elasticsearch, PHP (Object Oriented), SQL (MySQL, pgSQL) databases, Git, Consuming/integrating REST APIs

• Experience configuring and working with different stacks (LEMP, LAMP, etc)
• Knowledge of integrating a web application into a CMS
• Conscious of security practices
• Experience using Composer and Laravel
• Experience with CI
• Highly experienced in AWS and Elastic Beanstalk
• Highly experienced in working with an open source CMS ideally Strapi.io
• HTML5, CSS3/Sass, Javascript
