• Responsible for creating technology solutions to meet business requirements, in line with the Strategies and Governance for the Business and Group IT.
• Working with the relevant Project Manager, Business Analysis and any Technology Partner - responsible for ensuring that the outcomes delivered by projects are consistent with the original solution
• Support the development of systems strategy and plan for the supported business area
• Overall Accountable to ensure best engineering practices are followed, ensuring the applications are designed to be inherently resilient, using the latest technology

What will you be doing? Following are key activities expected from the role

• Work directly with other engineering and architecture functions, business and technology stakeholders to deliver fit for purpose and strategic technical solutions/plans, in particular those initiatives that drive modernisation, re-platforming and large scale change/transformation
• Guide and mentor other architects and designers
• Responsible for ratifying technology solutions, producing concise Design documents, including Source to Target mappings, data manipulation / processing logic, contribute to stage 0 and 1 estimates, to meet solution requirements, in line with team and group Strategies and Architectures
• Adding clarity to business requirements, challenges business requirements and demands to ensure high quality candidate solutions are created.
• Responsible for ensuring that the build outcomes delivered by our teams are consistent with produced designs meeting requested solution.
• Great leader and good mentor, Ownership of defect triage, review code & contribute as required.
• Continue to build, extend, innovative next generation banking solutions and capabilities.
• Working closely with CTO, CISO, Engineering function and other teams in order to deliver solutions at highest standards.
• Takes responsibility for ensuring that solutions adhere to architectural and quality standards and policies.
• Able to rationalise between different solution options and define pros and cons based on a driving forces from a commercial, operational and technology viewpoint.
• Ability to create fit for purpose technology solutions which address the combined challenges of: meeting business need, deliverable within reasonable constraints, correspond to organisational strategic guidance
• Excellent understanding of best practice architectural and design methods with proven innovative and leading edge thinking (e.g. Domain Driven Architecture, building for resilience, scalability, performance, etc.)
• Good broad understanding of a wide variety of technologies and patterns, including emerging, cutting edge trends. (e.g. AWS, Java, Adaptive and Responsive design, Infrastructure as Code, IaaS, PaaS, APIs etc.)
• Strong understanding of Agile application development methodology.

What we’re looking for:

• 
  
  • Experience delivering commercially viable solutions in a regulated environment.
  • Experience designing secure, scalable, highly available, resilient performant solutions.
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment.
  • Knowledge of architectural design patterns and concepts including MVC and domain-driven design.
  • Proven experience in architecting enterprise wide end to end solutions focusing on Cloud based technologies, as well as software/application architecture and integration.
  • Ability to clarify requirements with stakeholders to resolve gaps, uncertainties and conflicts.
  • Ability to demonstrate previous evidence of drive, energy, commitment, and enthusiasm.
  • 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering and Development, preferably in Banking/Cards/Payments vertical
  • 5+ years of experience in Systems Architecture or Technology Solution Design
