: Role : Data Engineer -Mainframe Basic Qualifications 2+ years of experience in mainframe development, support, or engineering with expertise in mainframe technologies such as COBOL , JCL , DB2 , CICS , and IMS Strong proficiency in mainframe programming languages , particularly COBOL , and experience with JCL (Job Control Language) for job management and automation Experience with mainframe data management and relational databases, particularly DB2 and IMS , including designing, optimizing, and maintaining databases Solid understanding of CICS (Customer Information Control System) for transaction processing and batch operations Experience with mainframe system administration , including monitoring and managing system resources, jobs, and batch processes Familiarity with Mainframe Integration and connecting legacy systems with modern technologies or cloud platforms Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving performance issues or application failures in mainframe systems Familiarity with Agile methodology, with experience working in Agile teams and following iterative development practices Strong communication skills , with the ability to explain technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to support mission-critical mainframe applications Preferred Qualifications Degree in Computer Science , Engineering , Information Technology , or a related field, or equivalent work experience Extensive experience with COBOL for mainframe application development, including writing, testing, and maintaining legacy applications Deep expertise in JCL for managing mainframe jobs and workloads, as well as optimizing and troubleshooting batch processes Hands-on experience with CICS for transaction management, including application design and development for interactive online systems Strong experience with DB2 and IMS databases, including data modeling, query optimization, and managing data integrity in mainframe environments Familiarity with Mainframe Batch Processing and scheduling tools such as Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS) or Control-M Experience with mainframe security tools and practices, including RACF (Resource Access Control Facility) for user access management and compliance Proficiency in mainframe debugging tools and techniques, including IBM Debug, Abend-Aid, or similar utilities Knowledge of Cloud Integration or modernization of mainframe applications, including connecting mainframes with hybrid cloud architectures Experience with version control systems and software development practices in a mainframe context Understanding of data migration strategies for transferring data between mainframe systems and other environments Familiarity with z/OS , z/VM , and other mainframe operating systems for system-level administration and resource management Ability to optimize the performance of mainframe systems and applications, focusing on minimizing resource usage and improving efficiency Strong analytical skills to analyze complex business processes and design solutions for mainframe environments Ability to work effectively in a team environment , contributing to both project-based and operational activities
