Role Overview:

CGI is looking for a skilled Java Backend Developer with strong expertise in building scalable backend services and integrating event-driven systems. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with microservices architecture, cloud-native development, and high-performance distributed applications.

Your future duties and responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend services with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and reliability. Build event-driven applications and integrate systems using Apache Kafka (producers, consumers, streams, connectors). Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Spring Boot / Spring Framework. Implement messaging, streaming, and asynchronous processing patterns using Kafka. Collaborate with architects and cross-functional teams to define solutions and technical designs. Optimize application performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability. Work with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra). Participate in code reviews, unit/integration testing, and CI/CD pipelines. Ensure secure coding practices and compliance with industry best practices. Contribute to architectural improvements and modernization initiatives (cloud, containerization, DevOps).


Core Technical Skills Required:

Strong experience in Java 8/11/17+ with OOP and functional programming concepts. Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security, etc. Deep knowledge of Apache Kafka components:-

o Producers & Consumers

o Kafka Streams

o Kafka Connect

o Schema Registry (Avro/JSON)

o Partitioning, replication, retention strategies

Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems. Experience with RDBMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra). Knowledge of database optimization, transactions, and indexing. CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

Qualification:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
