Position: Lead Analyst-Senior OpenSearch & Kafka Platform Engineer

Education Qualification: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or higher with minimum 7 years of relevant experience.



We are seeking a skilled OpenSearch & Kafka Platform Engineer to own, operate, and support our OpenSearch infrastructure and provide Kafka platform support for a high-volume, mission-critical application. This role is hands-on and operational in nature, focused on system reliability, observability, performance, and security.

The engineer will work closely with application development, DevOps, and platform teams to ensure OpenSearch and Kafka services are highly available, scalable, and production-ready.

Your future duties and responsibilities

OpenSearch

Own day-to-day operations of OpenSearch clusters, including monitoring, tuning, and maintenance

Design and optimize index mappings, shard strategies, and retention policies

Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of OpenSearch

Monitor cluster health, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis

Support log analytics, search, and dashboard use cases

Manage data lifecycle policies, backup, and recovery

Work with application teams to onboard new indices and queries

Ensure security best practices (roles, access control, encryption)



Kafka Support

Support Kafka topics, producers, and consumers

Assist application teams with Kafka integration, message flow issues, and performance tuning

Monitor Kafka lag, throughput, and broker health

Support issue triage and incident resolution related to Kafka

Help with topic configuration, retention, and partitioning strategies

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

Must-Have Skills:

General / Functional Skills

Strong hands-on experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch

Good understanding of:

Indexing, querying, and performance tuning

Cluster sizing and scaling

Shards, replicas, and data lifecycle management

Working knowledge of Apache Kafka

Topics, partitions, producers, consumers

Monitoring and troubleshooting

Experience with Linux systems and troubleshooting

Familiarity with log aggregation and observability tools

Experience working in production support or platform engineering roles

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams



Good-to-Have Skills:

Experience supporting high-volume, transaction-heavy systems (payments, banking, fintech)

Exposure to microservices architectures

Experience with Docker and Kubernetes

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines

Scripting skills (Python, Bash)

Experience with security and compliance requirements
