Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Snowflake Platform Architect to design, implement, and optimize our cloud-based data platform using Snowflake. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert in Snowflakes architecture, capable of building scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions to support business analytics, data warehousing, and advanced data-sharing needs. This role requires deep expertise in cloud data platforms, data modeling, and integration with modern data ecosystems, along with close collaboration with platform engineers to ensure seamless infrastructure alignment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and architect end-to-end data solutions on the Snowflake platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, platform engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to define requirements, align infrastructure needs, and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Work with platform engineers to integrate Snowflake with underlying cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), ensuring optimal deployment, networking, and compute resource configurations.
  • Implement best practices for Snowflake data warehousing, including schema design, table structures, and partitioning strategies.
  • Optimize Snowflake performance through query tuning, clustering, and resource management (e.g., virtual warehouses, compute scaling), in partnership with platform engineers to fine-tune system performance.
  • Integrate Snowflake with cloud ecosystems and tools like ETL/ELT pipelines, BI platforms, and data lakes, coordinating with platform engineers for smooth interoperability.
  • Ensure data security and governance by implementing role-based access controls (RBAC), encryption, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA), collaborating with platform engineers on security protocols.
  • Develop and maintain data ingestion pipelines using Snowflakes Snowpipe or third-party tools (e.g., Apache Kafka, Fivetran, dbt), with input from platform engineers on pipeline deployment.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data teams and platform engineers on Snowflake best practices and emerging features.
  • Monitor and manage Snowflake costs, recommending strategies to optimize usage and reduce expenses in collaboration with platform engineers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to data processing, performance, and system integration, working alongside platform engineers to address infrastructure-related challenges.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Masters preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a related role.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake, including advanced features like Snowpark, Streams, and Tasks.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with data modeling (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema).
  • Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their integration with Snowflake.
  • Experience working with platform engineers to design and manage cloud infrastructure for data platforms.
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Matillion) and orchestration frameworks (e.g., Airflow).
  • Knowledge of programming/scripting languages such as Python, Java, or Scala is a plus.
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and their connectivity to Snowflake.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Snowflake SnowPro Core Certification (or higher) is highly desirable.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with data sharing and collaboration features in Snowflake (e.g., Secure Data Sharing, Data Marketplace).
  • Understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform), with experience partnering with platform engineers on implementation.
  • Background in big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
