About the Role

We are hiring a

Lead AI Architect & Practice Head

to

build and own

our AI Development Division.

This is a

hands-on senior role

combining:

Solution architecture and delivery AI & data engineering Presales solutioning and estimation Technical leadership and standards
You will lead bespoke AI projects for SME customers and help incubate internal AI accelerators and product ideas alongside delivery work.

This role is ideal for a senior engineer who wants

real architectural authority

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Delivery Ownership

Design end-to-end architectures for AI-enabled applications, covering: Data ingestion (APIs, files, events, streaming) Backend services and orchestration AI/GenAI layers (LLMs, RAG, agents) Dashboards, analytics, and insights Integrations with business systems Build and review

production-ready systems

(automation, bots, analytics) Define reusable patterns for AI modules and workflows Own security, data privacy, reliability, observability, and failure handling Act as the

final technical decision-maker

for AI architecture and tooling

Presales, Scoping & Solutioning

Translate business problems into clear technical solutions Define scope, assumptions, risks, and delivery phases Estimate effort, timelines, and complexity for bespoke projects Participate in client solutioning discussions to ensure feasibility and clarity Support proposals and demos alongside the business team

AI, Analytics & Insights

Design and deliver:

AI chatbots (web, WhatsApp, internal) AI voice bots (reservations, FAQs, reminders - SME-grade) Document intelligence pipelines (invoices, forms, PDFs) Analytics dashboards that deliver

business insight

, not just charts AI-assisted summaries, explanations, and decision support where appropriate

Practice & Team Leadership

Act as the technical owner of the AI practice Review code and guide junior engineers Shape internal accelerators and product ideas Decide build vs buy and manage technical trade-offs Evaluate AI platforms (hyperscalers, open-source, SaaS) based on cost, security, and SME suitability

What You Will Build

Workflow automations (Xero, HubSpot, Teams, other systems) AI-powered dashboards and data visualisations Internal knowledge bots (private and secure) Customer-facing chatbots and voice bots SME-grade predictive and trend analytics Secure AI solutions with clear human handover paths

Required Skills & Experience

6-9 years of software engineering experience Strong backend development skills (Python and/or Node.js) Experience delivering

production AI systems

(LLMs, RAG, automation) Solid experience with APIs, webhooks, and system integrations Strong SQL and data modelling fundamentals Experience designing analytics or dashboard solutions Understanding of AI data architectures: Relational, NoSQL, vector databases Event-driven and microservices architectures Ability to explain technical decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders Comfortable owning architecture, scope, and delivery end-to-end

Nice to Have

Experience with Twilio, Microsoft 365, HubSpot, or similar SaaS platforms Experience building conversational bots (text or voice) Exposure to SME or startup environments Familiarity with BI tools or custom analytics dashboards

Not a research or data science role Not a pure frontend role Not a large-team people management role (yet)
