Job Purpose: This role is responsible to perform the smooth and efficient operation of the Ash Handling Plant (AHP) by managing the lineup and changeover of units and auxiliaries, executing routine system testing, and monitoring power consumption for cost optimization. The role also involves evaluating operational systems, executing maintenance protocols, and ensuring safety. Additionally, the role includes handling plant operation emergencies and promoting a culture of safety within the AHP area.
Responsibilities:
Lead Ash Handling Plant - Operations
Operational Excellence:
Perform the lineup of the unit and its auxiliaries, ensuring seamless changeover of equipment.
Execute routine testing of the protection system and annunciation system to maintain operational integrity.
Monitor power, energy and water consumption, track associated costs and provide inputs for cost optimization.
Ensure proper utilization of the system.
Maintain a clean and orderly environment within the Ash Handling Plant to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with housekeeping standards.
Ensure the issuance and cancellation of Permit to Work (PTW), ensuring safe isolation and equipment safety.
Provide necessary support during equipment trials.
System Evaluation and Maintenance:
Ensure timely evaluation of the operational system and communicate necessary changes to the maintenance team.
Ensure adherence to changeover procedures as per SAP and maintain accurate data updates on SAP.
Execute safe isolation practices, providing timely notifications for maintenance actions.
Ensure that equipment tagging systems are in place for safety and to prevent unauthorized access to the equipment.
Conduct timely testing of the systems to resolve issues by coordinating with the relevant departments.
Safety and Emergency Management:
Promote a culture of safety within the AHP area through use of safety gear.
Handle plant operation emergencies at AHP, including unit shutdowns and load throw-offs, to control generation as per requirements.
Support regular safety training sessions and drills to prepare the team for emergency situations.
Maintain a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards and implementing preventive measures.
Verify vendor bills and track Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) to ensure accurate financial management.
Business Sustainability:
Implement and Follow IMS, AWMS, DISHA and CHETNA guidelines within the department.
Ensure the safety of personnel, including business associates and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.
Implement sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact and promote resource conservation.
Engage in continuous learning and development to stay abreast of sustainability trends and regulations.
Foster a culture of accountability and responsibility towards environmental stewardship and community well-being.
Digitization and Automation:
Execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency.
Implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals/strategy.
Implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.

Qualifications:
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably in Mechanical or Electrical).
Work Experience (Range of years):
8+ years in power plant operations or similar industrial settings.
Preferred Industry:
Power generation, energy sector, or related heavy industries with experience in ash handling or material handling operations.
