The Laundry Staff ensures the hospital's linen, uniforms, and patient clothing are hygienically cleaned, well-maintained, and readily available, supporting infection control and patient care standards.
Key Responsibilities: Linen Management
Collect, segregate, and process soiled linen from wards, OT, OPD, and other hospital areas.
Ensure proper handling of contaminated/infected linen separately as per infection control policy.
Deliver clean linen to respective hospital areas as per daily requirements.
Maintain adequate stock of linen and uniforms for smooth operations.
Laundry Operations
Operate washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment safely and efficiently.
Ensure proper use of detergents, disinfectants, and chemicals.
Inspect linen for stains, tears, or damage and segregate for repair/replacement.
Maintain records of daily washing, drying, ironing, and distribution.
Infection Control & Safety
Follow hospital infection control protocols while handling contaminated linen.
Use protective gear (gloves, masks, aprons) as per hospital safety standards.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of laundry room and equipment.
Prevent cross-contamination by strictly following segregation and washing procedures.
Coordination & Reporting
Coordinate with nursing staff, housekeeping, and stores for linen requirements.
Report shortages, damages, or equipment malfunctions promptly.
Assist in linen inventory management and participate in periodic stock audits.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 10th standard pass (for Laundry Attendant)
Prior experience in hospital/hotel laundry desirable.
Knowledge of infection control practices and safe handling of linen.
Ability to operate laundry equipment.
Physically fit, with attention to hygiene and detail.
Teamwork and time management skills.
