is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining lathe machines to produce precision metal, plastic, or wood components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Set up and operate manual and/or CNC lathe machines to perform turning, facing, drilling, threading, and other machining operations.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and cutting parameters for each job.
Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments to ensure accuracy.
Adjust machine settings, tooling offsets, and speeds/feeds to maintain product quality.
Perform routine machine maintenance, including lubrication and cleaning.
Monitor machine operations and ensure production runs smoothly and efficiently.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment following company and regulatory safety standards.
Document production data, inspection results, and any issues encountered.
Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and quality control teams to resolve machining problems.
High school diploma or technical certification in machining or a related field (preferred).
Proven experience operating manual or CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
Proficiency with precision measuring tools.
Strong mechanical and mathematical skills.
Knowledge of cutting tools, materials, and machining processes.
Ability to work independently and maintain attention to detail.
Good physical stamina and the ability to lift moderate weights as needed.
