Job Description

A 5-axis laser operator sets up, programs, and runs sophisticated, multi-axis laser cutting machines to produce complex 3D parts, primarily for industries like aerospace, automotive, and medical. They interpret blueprints, secure materials, manage laser focal points, and ensure precision within tight tolerances. Operators often use software like Cypcut or ArGo for simulation and to troubleshoot, ensuring 24/7 production and high-accuracy results.

Key Responsibilities

Setup:

Preparing the machine, selecting proper fixtures, securing workpieces, and ensuring the table is properly prepped and cleaned.

Operation:

Running the 5-axis machine, which allows for simultaneous, multi-directional cutting for complex shapes, reducing the need for manual repositioning.

Programming & Optimization:

Using CAM software (e.g., ArGo, Cypcut) to simulate cutting paths, manage, and correct tool trajectories.

Quality Control:

Inspecting finished parts against blueprints and specifications using measuring tools to ensure accuracy.

Maintenance & Safety:

Performing regular machine check-ups, handling, and disposing of hazardous materials in compliance with safety standards.

Requirements & Skills

Experience:

Previous experience with 5-axis machines or similar CNC equipment is typically required.

Technical Knowledge:

Understanding of laser cutting parameters (feed, speed, focal point), G-code, and 3D modeling/blueprints.

Attention to Detail:

High precision in setting up fixtures and identifying potential machine collisions or errors.
