Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laser Cutting Operator to join our production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining laser cutting machines to produce precision parts according to specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of machine operation, material properties, and quality control to ensure efficient and accurate production.

Responsibilities

Operate, set up, and program CNC laser cutting machines to cut various materials such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other alloys. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine material requirements, cutting sequences, and finished part specifications. Select and load appropriate materials onto the machine bed, ensuring proper alignment and secure clamping. Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning optics, nozzles, and ensuring proper gas levels and pressure. Monitor machine operation during the cutting process, making adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and efficiency. Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, tape measures). Identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions or quality issues, reporting complex problems to maintenance or supervisors. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies. Assist with material handling, loading, and unloading as needed. Document production activities, including completed work, material usage, and any deviations. Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to optimize production processes.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in machine operation, CNC, or a related field is a plus. Proven experience ( 2+ years) as a Laser Cutting Operator or similar machine operation role. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints. Solid understanding of different metal types and their properties. Experience with precision measuring tools. Basic computer skills for machine programming and data entry. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. Commitment to workplace safety.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and move materials up to [e.g., 50 lbs] occasionally. Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
