Plan and manage the collection, transport, and delivery of biological samples between collection centers and the central laboratory.
Ensure temperature-controlled logistics and compliance with biosafety standards.
Manage inbound and outbound logistics for reagents, consumables, and medical equipment.
Coordinate with courier partners, internal drivers, and third-party logistics providers for efficiency and cost control.
2. Inventory & Procurement
Maintain accurate stock levels for reagents, consumables, and spare parts.
Forecast demand based on testing volume and consumption trends.
Coordinate with procurement for vendor selection, purchase orders, and supplier performance monitoring.
Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) systems are followed.
3. Compliance & Documentation
Ensure compliance with NABL, ISO, and biomedical waste management regulations.
Maintain records of lot numbers, batch details, calibration certificates, and transport logs.
Prepare audit documents and participate in quality audits.
4. Team Management
Supervise logistics and store personnel, including drivers, store assistants, and sample transporters.
Provide training on cold chain handling, biosafety, and documentation protocols.
Monitor performance and implement corrective actions when needed.
5. Equipment & Facility Coordination
Liaise with biomedical engineers and vendors for timely installation, calibration, and maintenance.
Oversee movement of instruments between locations or collection points.
Manage disposal of expired or obsolete inventory as per regulations.
6. Data & Reporting
Generate and analyze logistics KPIs: TAT (Turnaround Time), wastage, stock accuracy, cost per shipment, etc.
Implement digital inventory tracking systems (e.g., LIS/ERP).
Report discrepancies, shortages, and damages to management promptly.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in
Medical Laboratory Technology, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
(MBA preferred).
Minimum
5-8 years
experience in laboratory or healthcare logistics management.
Knowledge of
cold chain management, biomedical safety, and NABL/ISO standards
.
Proficient in
MS Office, LIS, and ERP systems
