Education Requirement:

Diploma in science/healthcare or one year healthcare experience with knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy

Travel Requirement:

Yes, 45-50%

The Lab Technician will be responsible for the final disposition of recovered tissue and test samples, including storage and/or shipping. Duties include:

Recovering eye tissue from donors for transplant and research Drawing blood samples for serological testing Reviewing donor medical history and performing physical assessments Transporting eye tissue to/from Eye Banks and laboratories Preparing tissue and biological specimens for transport Cleaning facilities and maintaining equipment Preparing ocular tissue for processing in the lab Documenting donor and tissue information in reports and databases Managing inventory and stock in tissue handling areas Preparing and sterilizing instrument kits Performing corneal evaluation and sterile tissue processing for grafts Training other surgical recovery staff and assisting with administrative functions

Proven experience in tissue recovery and preservation at an Eye Bank Experience reviewing medical records
