Medical Laboratory Technician (DMLT)

Department:

Laboratory Services

Reports to:

Pathologist / Lab In-charge / Centre Head

Key Responsibilities:

Collect, label, and process biological samples (blood, urine, sputum, stool, etc.) safely and accurately. Perform routine and specialized diagnostic tests (hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, serology, histopathology, etc.) under supervision. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, analyzers, microscopes, and spectrophotometers. Prepare reagents, solutions, and culture media as per laboratory protocols. Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results by following quality control procedures. Record, analyze, and maintain patient test data and prepare reports for doctors' review. Follow biosafety, infection control, and waste disposal protocols. Support senior pathologists, microbiologists, and other medical professionals during advanced testing and research. Maintain stock of laboratory supplies and ensure timely requisition. Adhere to NABL / ISO / hospital quality standards.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques and instruments. Attention to detail and accuracy in reporting. Basic computer knowledge for data entry and report generation. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to handle samples safely and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications:

Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) from a recognized institute/university. Additional certification or experience in specialized labs (biochemistry, microbiology, pathology) preferred.

Experience:

Fresher or

1-3 years

of experience in a diagnostic lab / hospital laboratory.

Work Environment:

Hospital laboratories, diagnostic centers, research labs, or blood banks. Shift duties may be required depending on hospital/center policy
