The Pathology Lab Technician is responsible for performing laboratory tests, sample collection, processing, analysis, and documentation in accordance with established hospital and NABL/NABH standards to ensure accurate and timely diagnostic results.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect, label, and process blood, urine, stool, sputum, and other clinical samples following proper aseptic techniques.
Perform routine and specialized laboratory investigations including hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, serology, and histopathology tests.
Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment.
Ensure accuracy, reliability, and timely delivery of test results.
Maintain daily logs, quality control records, and other required documentation.
Adhere to infection control, biosafety, and waste disposal protocols.
Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and patients for sample collection or report clarifications.
Assist in stock management of reagents, chemicals, and consumables.
Support in maintaining NABH/NABL compliance documentation and participate in audits.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and uphold hospital ethics at all times.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
DMLT / BMLT / MLT from a recognized institution.
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory setting
Skills:
Knowledge of laboratory instruments and test procedures.
Good understanding of quality control standards.
Basic computer and report entry skills.
Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
