We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Pathology Lab Technician to join our veterinary clinic's healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary pathology and laboratory techniques. As a Pathology Lab Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinarians by conducting a variety of laboratory tests, including Complete Blood Count (CBC), Liver Function Tests (LFT), Kidney Function Tests (KFT), and blood draw procedures, to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of animal patients. Your attention to detail, technical expertise, and commitment to animal welfare will be essential in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of diagnostic information.
Responsibilities:
Sample Collection and Preparation:
Collect, label, and process various types of biological samples (blood, tissue, urine, etc.) from animal patients following established protocols.
Perform blood draw procedures with precision and care, ensuring minimal discomfort to the animal.
Histopath sample collection.
Laboratory Testing:
Conduct Complete Blood Count (CBC), Liver Function Tests (LFT), and Kidney Function Tests (KFT) on collected samples as directed by veterinary staff.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as microscopes, centrifuges, and analyzers.
Accurately record and interpret test results, and communicate findings to the veterinary team.
Quality Control and Assurance:
Adhere to strict quality control standards to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Regularly calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to maintain accuracy and precision.
Monitor and maintain an adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents.
Documentation and Reporting:
Document all laboratory activities, procedures, and test results accurately and comprehensively.
Prepare clear and concise reports summarizing findings for veterinary clinicians and patient records.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with veterinary clinicians to understand testing requirements and prioritize urgent cases.
Communicate effectively with the veterinary team regarding test results, sample requirements, and any potential issues.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow established safety protocols and infection control measures to ensure a safe working environment.
Adhere to regulatory guidelines and ethical standards related to laboratory practices and animal care.
