Role Overview



The Laboratory Technician is responsible for the efficient operation, safety, and maintenance of the school science laboratories. The role supports teachers and students during practical sessions by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and organised laboratory environment in line with school and curriculum requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Preparation & Support



Prepare laboratory setups, apparatus, and materials for practical classes and demonstrations. Assist teachers during experiments and practical assessments. Ensure availability of chemicals, specimens, and consumables as per lesson plans. Support internal and external practical examinations, where applicable.

Safety & Compliance



Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols and school policies. Maintain safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, eye wash stations, and fume hoods. Instruct students on basic laboratory safety rules under teacher supervision. Properly store, label, and handle chemicals and equipment.

Maintenance & Inventory



Maintain laboratory equipment in working condition; report repairs and replacements. Keep accurate inventory of chemicals, glassware, and equipment. Ensure safe disposal of chemical waste and biological materials as per guidelines. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of laboratories and storage areas.

Record Keeping & Documentation



Maintain laboratory registers, stock records, and safety logs. Assist in ordering laboratory supplies in coordination with the Head of Department. Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for chemicals.

Collaboration & Support



Work closely with science teachers and academic coordinators. Support school science exhibitions, fairs, and practical-based activities. Assist during inspections, audits, or accreditation processes.

Qualifications & Experience



Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or related field). Prior experience as a laboratory technician in a school or educational institution preferred. Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and equipment handling.

Skills & Competencies



Strong organisational and time-management skills. Attention to detail and safety consciousness. Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively. Basic computer skills for record maintenance. Physical ability to handle laboratory equipment safely.

Desirable Attributes



Experience in CBSE / ICSE / Cambridge / IB school laboratories. Familiarity with practical examination requirements. Certification in laboratory safety or first aid. Commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Pay: ₹10,519.87 - ₹25,000.00 per month
