Position Overview
The
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
will be responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory tests that aid in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The role requires strong technical skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to NABL/NABH quality standards.
Collect blood, urine, stool, sputum, and other biological samples following aseptic techniques.
Label, store, and process samples accurately.
Perform centrifugation, slide preparation, and specimen preservation.
2. Laboratory Testing
Conduct routine and advanced tests in:
Hematology
Biochemistry
Microbiology
Clinical Pathology
Serology & Immunology
Operate and maintain laboratory analyzers and equipment.
3. Quality Control & Compliance
Perform daily internal quality control and participate in external quality assurance programs (EQAS).
Ensure adherence to NABL/NABH standards and hospital protocols.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of test results.
4. Reporting & Coordination
Enter and validate results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other departments for timely communication of critical values.
Assist in maintaining laboratory inventory and reagent stock.
5. Safety & Hygiene
Follow biosafety guidelines for sample handling and waste disposal.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Report equipment malfunction or hazards promptly.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT)
/
BSc in MLT
from a recognized institute.
Minimum
1-3 years
of experience in a clinical laboratory (freshers with strong skills may be considered).
Knowledge of automated analyzers, LIS, and standard operating procedures.
Strong understanding of NABL/NABH requirements.
Good communication, teamwork, and patient-handling skills.
Ability to work in rotational shifts including weekends/holidays.
Preferred Skills
Experience with modern automated equipment (Hematology, Biochemistry analyzers, etc.)
Good phlebotomy skills.
Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues.
Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
