Collect blood, urine, stool, sputum, and other samples using proper aseptic techniques.
Ensure correct patient identification before sample collection.
Label samples accurately with patient details, date, and time.
Handle and transport samples safely to avoid contamination or degradation.
Perform venipuncture with minimal discomfort to patients.
2. Laboratory Testing & Analysis
Conduct routine and advanced laboratory tests such as:
Hematology (CBC, ESR, peripheral smear, etc.)
Biochemistry (LFT, RFT, lipid profile, blood sugar, electrolytes, etc.)
Microbiology (culture, sensitivity, gram stain, etc.)
Clinical pathology (urine analysis, stool analysis, body fluids, etc.)
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) strictly.
Ensure accuracy, precision, and reliability of test results.
3. Equipment Operation & Maintenance
Operate laboratory instruments such as:
Hematology analyzer
Biochemistry analyzer
Centrifuge
Microscope
Electrolyte analyzer
Perform daily calibration, QC (Quality Control), and maintenance of machines.
Report any equipment malfunction immediately to the supervisor/biomedical team.
4. Quality Control & Safety Compliance
Follow NABH/NABL standards for documentation and testing accuracy.
Maintain internal and external quality control logs.
Adhere to biosafety guidelines while handling bio-hazardous materials.
Ensure proper disposal of biomedical waste as per hospital policy.
5. Reporting & Documentation
Enter results accurately into HMIS/LIS systems.
Cross-check reports before releasing.
Maintain lab registers, stock entry records, and daily logbooks.
Report critical values immediately to concerned doctors/nursing stations.
6. Patient Care & Communication
Explain procedures to patients politely and professionally.
Provide support to anxious or nervous patients during sample collection.
Ensure privacy, dignity, and comfort of female patients.
7. Inventory & Stock Management
Maintain adequate stock of reagents, kits, and consumables.
Check expiry dates regularly and ensure proper storage.
Intimate Lab Incharge/Manager for timely procurement.
8. Coordination & Team Support
Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other departments for smooth workflow.
Assist colleagues during high workload or emergency situations.
Train junior technicians, interns, and students when required.
9. Emergency & On-Call Duties
Attend emergency sample collection (ICU, OT, ER) when needed.
Ensure immediate processing of urgent/emergency samples.
Support critical patient care with timely reporting.
10. Professional Conduct
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Follow dress code, grooming, and hygiene standards.
Uphold hospital policies, ethics, and discipline.
